Don't expect any American-style malls in Ghent. But if on the other hand you adore shopping in small streets, to find original stuff and to discover brands from all over Europe, then Ghent is your place to go. The main shopping streets can limit you to the global brands, but the magic happens if you decide to just try other smaller streets. Shopping in Ghent is very popular on Saturdays.

Most shops accept major creditcards. Shop assistants in larger stores won't necessarily offer you assistance right away, but if you ask for help they will be happy to help you out. Most shop owners or staff speak English as their second language. After 6pm and on Sundays most shops are closed. Nightly errands can be done at Asian nightshops around the City. And if you're really fond of malls.. There's a small mall at Gent South, near the bus terminal.
